The University has three campuses: a main campus set in over 200 acres of parkland in historic Colchester; a new state of the art campus in the thriving coastal town of Southend-on-Sea; and East 15 Acting school located in Loughton on the outskirts of London. All locations are less than one hour to London by train and have excellent access to other major European cities by air, rail and sea.

The University received its Royal Charter in 1965 and has since grown to become the UK’s most international campus university, with over 10,000 students from over 125 countries. Around 25% of students are postgraduates. Essex has over 1900 staff, also drawn from around the world, ensuring that students benefit from a truly international experience.
